2022

2022 was a different kind of year, and it will receive a different kind of year end review. This was a year of dramatic change, growth, and struggle. Here are the highlights:

    • I left my cushy Amazon job because I was miserable.
    • I took a risk and moved from Seattle to Miami for a startup that kicked me out, leaving me unemployed.
    • I bought a Miami condo in a nice part of town.
    • My stock and crypto portfolios took a major hit as the markets tanks, leaving me financially vulnerable.
    • I explored romantic relationships. It left me single, but it taught me a lot about my values self worth.

2023 Goals

The theme of my 2023 goals is to get back on track. I'll need help from my friends and my network to make it happen.

Repair my finances

The conditions right now are challenging. My cash and investments dropped by 70% in 2022. In the same timeframe, I lost my job, and the tech world began a sweeping round of layoffs and hiring freezes. Crawling out of this hole will be painful, but it's not impossible, and I won't do it alone. Using all my resources, I'll find a new six figure job in a field I'm passionate about (eg: fintech, green tech, med tech, education).

Action Items
  • Jan - March: Search & apply daily for roles in the fields I'm focused on.
  • Jan - March: Network with friends and connections to increase the likelihood of finding an appropriate role.
  • Feb - Identify adventageous new skillsets to persue (Masters degree, certifications, etc).
  • Create and sell a digital product

Even with my shaky finances, it's important for me to keep the big picture in mind. I don't want to rely on a day job for my income. I need a seperate product that produces at least a small stream of income. Something I can control and scale. I've already begun on the first canidate project: It's an ebook that helps new businesses establish business credit.

    Action Items
  • Feb - March: Complete first full draft of Business Credit eBook.
  • March: Get professional input on ebook material.
  • April: Publish Business Credit eBook
  • Actively improve my health

I still have healthcare coverage. Now more than ever I'm motivated to use what I'm already paying for. I'm in good health still,

    Action Items
  • Jan: Establish new exercise routine at my condo's gym.
  • Jan: Set medical and dental appointments for preempative checks.
  • Jan: Set new diet plan.
  • Jan: Resume exercise app usage.
